Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is suitable for all clients who wish to smooth out skin imperfections, remove acne scars, fine lines or other unwanted irregularities. It is also used for tattoo removal.

Medical aspects of the intervention

The removal of upper layers of the skin using a small milling machine will facilitate the growth of new, fine skin.

The procedure must be repeated for larger irregularities and deeper tattoos, as a single deep dermabrasion could cause noticeable scars.

Form of intervention

It is mostly an outpatient procedure (sometimes short-term hospitalisation is necessary).

Method and course of procedure

The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, major procedures under analgesia or general anaesthesia. In total, the procedure takes about 30-60 minutes. Upper layers of the skin are removed using a high-speed milling machine in the required extent and depth.

The treated area is covered with a dressing.

Postoperative course and recommendations

Analgesics are given should the patient complain of pain in the postoperative period.

The dressing adheres firmly to the base and mild oedema develops.

The wound will gradually heal after several days to weeks and the dressing will separate on its own (it is not torn off by force).

The healed skin is pink and this discolouration may persist for a long time.

It is strictly forbidden to expose such treated skin to sunlight for several weeks to months.

The average recovery time after this procedure is about 2-4 weeks.

Price calculation

The procedure is usually not covered by health insurance.

The total price of the procedure is given by the sum of the price for the procedure itself, the price for general or local anaesthesia and the price for hospitalisation according to its length.

The procedure is only covered by health insurance in case of post-traumatic tattoos.
