Face-lift

Who is the face-lift procedure suitable for

For clients with weakened skin and subcutaneous structures of the lower two-thirds of the face and the upper third of the neck, and deep facial wrinkles.

Medical aspects of a face-lift

The principle of a face-lift is to remove excess skin and stretch the weakened layer of mimic facial muscles. All these steps are performed from the least conspicuous cut possible.

The surgeon removes the excessive loose skin of the face and neck. Usually, the mimic muscles of the face or neck are also stretched (platysmoplasty).

Form of face-lift procedure

Hospitalisation usually takes 2-3 days.

Method and course of face-lift

The surgery takes 2-3 hours. It is performed under combined analgosedation and local anaesthesia. An incision is made in the hairy part of the head, specifically in the temporal region in front of the auricle, behind the ear and back to the hairy part. This approach is used to release the skin, subcutaneous tissue and structures of the mimic muscles. Afterwards, they are adjusted and fixated accordingly. After this phase of the procedure, the excess skin is removed and the wound is sutured. If the procedure combines a correction of the upper part of the neck, another short incision can be made just under the chin. Weakened mimic muscles are treated from this area or double chin liposuction is performed. Fine drains are introduced into the wounds. A sterile cover and elastic bandage are included.

Postoperative course and recommendations

Analgesics are given should the patient complain of pain in the postoperative period. Drains are most often removed 1 to 2 days after surgery. Subsequently, the elastic bandage is replaced with a special elastic sleeve worn for two to four weeks. Sutures are removed approximately 10-14 days after the surgery. After the wounds have healed, it is necessary to take care of the scars, which must be protected from sunlight for at least 3 months (you will discuss the details with your physician). Oedema and any haematoma are fully absorbed within two to three weeks. The average recovery time after this procedure is about 3-4 weeks. It is not recommended to do sports for about 4-6 weeks. You will be able to consult your attending physician throughout the postoperative period, who will guide you safely during this period.

Price calculation

Face-lift surgery is not covered by health insurance.

The total price of the procedure is given by the sum of the price for the procedure itself, the price for analgosedation and the price for hospitalisation according to its length – see the price list.

A face-lift is performed in our facility by all plastic surgeons.
